Winter is here....Sweet
No matter how old you are, you should take a moment and read this.....
You may not believe it, but it is about you -
You know, time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.
It seems just yesterday that I was a young girl, just married and embarking on my new life with my husband.
And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all... And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams...
But, here it is...the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise...How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my babies go? And where did my youth go?
I remember well...seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like...
But, here it is...husband retired yesterday and he's really getting gray...he moves slower and I see an older man now. He's in much better shape than me...but, I see the great change...
Not the one I married who was dark and young and strong... but, like me, his age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.
Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore...it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will...I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things.
But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...This I know, that when it's over...I will enjoy the Spring in the arms of my loving Father...and wait for my loved ones to come when their winter is over too...
So, if your not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly!
For remember that scripture?...our life is but a vapor, it vanished away...So, do what you can today, because you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not!
You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life... so, live for the Lord today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...

Today I will delete from my diary
two days: yesterday and tomorrow
Yesterday was to learn
and tomorrow will be the consequence
of what I can do today.
Today I will face life
with the conviction that this day
will not ever return.
Today is the last opportunity
I have to live intensely,
as no one can assure me
that I will see tomorrow's sunrise.
Today I will be brave enough
not to let any opportunity pass me by,
my only alternative is to succeed.
Today I will invest
my most valuable resource:my time,
in the most transcendental work:
my life;
I will spend each minute
passionately to make
of today a different
and unique day in my life.
Today I will defy every obstacle
that appears on my way trusting
I will succeed.
Today I will resist
pessimism and will conquer
the world with a smile,
with the positive attitude
of expecting always the best.
Today I will make of every ordinary task
a sublime expression,
Today I will have my feet on the ground
understanding reality
and the stars' gaze
to invent my future.
Today I will take the time to be happy
and will leave my footprints
and my presence the hearts of others.
Today, I invite you to begin a new season
where we can dream
that everything we undertake is possible
and we fulfill it,
with joy and dignity.

Christmas Tree Credo
Today will be a good day for I have decided it will be.
Though I cannot control the events that will occur,
I am the maker of the feelings, thoughts, and attitudes
that will determine my experience of these events.
Things may happen to me today that I would not prefer,
but I will use them as opportunities to
learn, grow, and become stronger
. In addition, to enhance the wonder of this day I will:

CHRISTMAS ABC'S
A is for 'angels' who sang praises on that first Christmas day
B is for 'Bethlehem'....where in a manger the holy Christ Child lay
C is for 'Christmas'.......the celebration of our Lord's birth
D is for 'divine' ....God's holy one who came to earth.
E is for 'Everlasting Father' whom we worship and adore
F is for our 'faith'.... in the One who is heaven's door.
G is for the 'Gift of salvation freely given to men
H is for 'holiness' of our Lord who delivers us from sin.
I is for 'Israel' where our Lord shall forever reign,
J is for the "joy" He gives, which makes our hearts to sing.
K is for 'King of Kings' who shall rule on earth one day,
L is for "Lamb of God"... who takes our sins away.
M is for "Mary"....the one chosen as our Savior's Mother,
N is for His "name Jesus"....the name greater than all others.
O is for 'ordinance" given to us by our Loving God
P is for 'peace God gives".... as on this earth we trod.
Q is for "quiet times" we spend in communion with our Lord.
R is for 'rest' we find in Jesus, and in God's Holy Word.
S is for "our salvation" the greatest gift of all
T is for "treasure" given us, as on His name we call.
U is for "understanding" which only He can give
V is for "victory" given to us each day we live.
W is for "wedding feast" which we shall one day attend
X is for His "xtra" grace, he freely gives unto all men.
Y is for the acceptable "year" of our Lord and King
Z is for "zeal of God".... as our praises to Him we bring.

TEACH THE CHILDREN
Just a week before Christmas I had a visitor. This is how it happened...
I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed, when I heard a noise in the front of the house. I opened the door to the front room, and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out from behind the Christmas tree. He placed his finger over his mouth so I would not cry out. What are you doing? I started to ask him.
The words choked in my throat, as I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. Gone was the eager boisterous soul we all know.
He then answered me with a simple statement, "TEACH THE CHILDREN!" I was puzzled: What did he mean? He anticipated my question, and with one quick movement brought forth a miniature toy bag from behind the tree.
As I stood there bewildered, Santa said, "Teach the Children! Teach them the old meaning of Christmas. The meaning that a now-a-day Christmas has forgotten!"
Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it on the mantle. "Teach the Children that the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind. All the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning toward heaven."
He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR. "Teach the Children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of that promise."
He then reached into the bag and pulled out a CANDLE. "Teach the Children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness."
Once again he reached into his bag and then removed a WREATH and placed it on the tree. "Teach the Children that the wreath symbolizes the eternal nature of love. Real love never ceases. Love is one continuous round of affection."
He then pulled out from his bag an ornament of HIMSELF. "Teach the Children that Santa Claus symbolizes the generosity and good will we feel during the month of December."
He reached in again and pulled out a HOLLY LEAF. "Teach the Children the holly plant represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our Savior. The red holly berries represent blood shed by Him."
Next he pulled out a GIFT from the bag and said, "Teach the Children that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift. Teach the Children that the wise men bowed before the holy babe and presented Him with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. We should give gifts in the same spirit as the wise men."
Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a CANDY CANE and hung it on the tree. "Teach the Children that the candy cane represents the shepherd's crook. The crook on the shepherd's staff helps bring back sheep strayed from the flock. The candy cane is the symbol that we are our brother's keeper."
He reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL. "Teach the Children that it was the angels that heralded in the glorious news of the Savior's birth. The angels sang 'Glory to God in the highest, on earth, peace and good will.'"
Suddenly I heard a soft twinkling sound, and from his bag he pulled out a BELL. "Teach the Children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of a bell, it should ring people to the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance and return."
Santa looked at the tree and was pleased. He looked back at me and I saw the twinkle was back in his eyes. He said, "Remember, teach the children the true meaning of Christmas, and not to put me in the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One who is, and I bow down and worship Him, our Lord, our God."
